Newest CAA Blog–The Christian Freethinker

In yesterday’s update, I completely neglected to include Tony Wichowski’s newest blog, the Christian Freethinker (my apologies, Tony!).  Though he has just started in on May 23, his blog site looks great and the content of his first post is very interesting.

Here is a brief overview of his blog:

The Christian Freethinker

Blogging is not new for me, but it has been some time since I have been serious about it. I have been involved in Christian ministry now for many years. However, it has only been the past couple years that I have focused primarily on Christian apologetics. This will be my first apologetics blog. I initially resisted creating an apologetics blog because my time was limited to write and I had begun writing a couple books already. However, this is the new media age and being such, I feel it is good for me to have a web presence beyond social networking.

In Tony’s first post, he has addressed the idea of being both a Christian and a Freethinker:  Are the terms Christian and Freethinker an oxymoron?

I encourage you to check out and consider subscribing to this new blog.  And be sure to welcome Tony’s blog to the CAA Team!

Newest CAA Bloggers - May 22, 2011

Thanks to Brian Auten's mention of our group on his excellent site last week, we have a number of new members to the CAA team to share with everyone.  Thanks, Brian, for the mention and for all that you do in service to the Kingdom of God!  For those of you've never seen Brian's site, you can check him out here:

As for the new members to the CAA team, I've listed their blogs below.  Please check them out and consider subscribing so you can keep up with their latest posts!

Freedom in Truth

Truth. How can we know it? Is it relative, or is it absolute? Most people want to know the truth about things, but often we find that many others' "truth" conflicts with ours. How do we handle this?
This life is a journey for everyone. We all develop philosophies and ideals that we begin to hold on to and even live by. In areas of life and death, can we afford to be wrong? Could we bank on a philosophy that truly has no logic, rationality, or truth? How often do we ask ourselves "Do I really believe, that what I believe is really real?" Can we honestly examine what we believe whether it's naturalism, relativism, religion, or whatever - put it under the microscope and see which bears more resemblance of truth and rationality?

It is my hope that together, we can examine these things. That we can put them under the microscope, and see what holds more truth. The starting point for this blog is the Bible. Why the Bible? Because the Bible is the only book in the world that has claimed absolute authority on what truth is in relation where we came from, why we are here, and where we are going. The Bible teaches there is only one truth, and it exists in the Person of Jesus Christ (John 14:6). The entire Word of God is truth (John 17:17). The Bible alone is sufficient and needs not to be added to or taken away from. It is the message of the Gospel that brings true freedom and salvation to a soul bound in sin (John 8:32).

But let us not be in danger of circular reasoning, but examine the Bible and faith. Does the Bible pass the test of being rational? Can it be put under the microscope of history, archeology, and even science? Yes it can and it has passed every time. But we will further examine these things. It is my hope that as we examine these truths, we can learn them, draw closer to God, and share these things effectively with others.

Latest Post (5/18): The End is May 21, 2011! Or is it?

No Apologies Allowed

The comics posted here are meant to spark discussion and exchange about the most important topics that can be debated, which are:
  • Does God exist?
  • Does life have a purpose?
  • Is the existing evidence best explained by natural or supernatural causes?
The title “No Apologies Allowed” comes from the fact that I intend on letting the cartoons speak for themselves. There will not be long, drawn out apologetic arguments attached to each. There are already many people who have done so. However, the cartoons won’t be lacking in apologetic substance.

No, you’ll just have to look carefully for hidden references and images within each cartoon.

Latest Post (5/19): May 22nd, 2011

The Gospel According to Erik

What many do not know about me is that ten years ago I graduated from Bible College. While I’ve graduated from Bible school, I feel like I have a way to go in my training before I enter the ministry. But in the meantime, I enjoy a good philosophical and theological discussion, and there is no place like the internet to throw my thoughts and ideas out there.  I’ve learned from experience that blogging can help me learn and understanding a particular subject.

Latest Post (5/17): Hawking, Heaven and Bed Time Stories

Logos Apologia

Logos Apologia  is the ministry of Cris D. Putnam. He earned a Bachelor of Science, summa cum laude, in religion and mathematics from Liberty University and is a bronze medallion holder at Koinonia Institute.  He is currently working toward a Masters in Theological Studies.

He is a member of Providence Baptist Church, the International Society of Christian Apologetics, the Evangelical Philosophical Society and the Tau Sigma National Honor Society.

The mission of Logos Apologia is to show that logic, science, history and faith are complementary, not contradictory and to bring that life-changing truth to everybody who wants to know.

Latest Post (5/18): The Coherence of Paul's Conversion Accounts

Reasonable Answers

The purpose of this blog is summarized in its introductory message, listed below:

My name is Daniel and I have chosen to establish a blog about reasonable answers to the difficult and thoughtful questions of life. Many people live life, but have not thought about the way they live it or what is true about the reality they live in. I desire to use this blog as an avenue for discussion and thought for others and myself. I have three main goals for the blog:
  1. Seek truth about the reality we live in
  2. Converse about significant topics through logical and appropriate dialogue with others.
  3. Make a reasonable case for the Christian worldview using logic, science, the Bible, archaeological, and historical evidence.
Latest Post (5/15): That's Just Your Interpretation

Thinking God's Thoughts

I will talk about passages of the Bible that I have been reading that catch my attention (as if any of them don't, lol). I try my best to write out what is going on and then try to make sense of how to apply the Biblical principles taught to people's lives. Keep in mind, I am not trained as a theologian or minister. Therefore, I won't ever try to exegete something that is beyond my capability. I will also research the passage and read what well respected Christian leaders have to say. If anybody sees something they think I should re-think, comment and I'll look into it.

I also will talk about things I see happening in the Church universal that are potentially harmful. This includes aberrant teachings and teachers. It is important for the body of Christ to always keep vigilant about what is being taught. The Bible makes it clear that false teachers will enter the church, and therefore we are to be discerning.

I will speak frequently on the Calvinist/Arminian debate. I take the Arminian side.

Latest Post (5/6): God's Outta Time!!!

Here on Earth

This is the personal blog of Dr. Patrick Collins, a Christian author of essays poems and short stories.  His blog is devoted to the written word and he includes topics ranging from Philosophy to Poetry and Theology.  As his blog says, "he is fascinated with the Christian experience and how genuine faith affects every square inch of life."

Latest Post (5/1): Faith: Truth by Relationship

The Valley Girl Apologist

This is a blog focusing on Christian Apologetics from an admitted "Valley Girl".  As she says it..."'like' and 'um' are permanent fixtures of my vocabulary".  She is a teacher in Southern California as well as a devoted servant of Jesus Christ.  She focuses on a wide variety of apologetic content, flavoring it with her unique perspective.

Latest Post (5/20): Unfortunately Sure...

Songs of a Semi-Free Man

The content of this blog is a mixture of apologetic essays and poetry.  The essays are all straight-forward apologetic driven arguments directed towards non-Christians.  The poetry is also apologetically driven to promote a Christian worldview.

Latest Post (5/18): Hope

In Defense of the Christian Faith

Here, you will find much information on the reliability of the Bible from a Christian standpoint. Christianity is a sound faith, and this blog exists to encourage the believer in his faith and to inform others of our beliefs.

Josiah Concept Ministries is a not-for-profit organization run by Cory and Jody Tucholski. It was formed to educate Christians in the biblical, historical, and philosophical truths of the Christian faith and to combat heresies like New Atheism.

Latest update (5/14/11): An Interesting Philosophical Conundrum

The Failed Atheist

Even though atheists may not like it when people say it, I'm a former atheist. Although I wasn't a Richard Dawkins or Christopher Hitchens type figure, none the less I didn't believe in God, and thus lived in a way which was consistent with me being captain of my ship. Perhaps I'm just not as clever as the New Atheists but I like to think that I hold truth to be something as important and my intellectual integrity simply won't allow me to ignore Jesus and embrace a god-less world-view that I doubt exists. I work in the NHS, have a beautiful wife and volunteer as a speaker for OpenDoors UK and do research for CARM.

Please welcome these two new blogs to the team, and consider subscribing to them in order to follow their regular updates!

New Bloggers Join the CAA Team!

I would like to welcome four new blogs to the CAA Team.  These blogs are now featured in our weekly summary listing all the blogs from the team members of the Christian Apologetics Alliance.  Please consider subscribing to them and keeping up with their excellent content!

Faith and Self Defense

The idea for Faith and Self Defense began in 1971 when God saved atheist Mark McGee from the penalty for his sins. Mark was a journalist and radio talk show host in a large metropolitan community. He was also a “faith bully.” While staying within the boundaries of professional journalism as a newsman, Mark expressed his atheism and disdain for people of faith on his daily talk show. (Read more about Mark’s personal testimony.)

Faith in Christ changed Mark’s life forever. He used his voice to defend the Faith against those who would argue that God did not exist and that Jesus did not die for the sins of the world.

Latest Post (May 9, 2011): Is Jesus God? (Part 2)

This is a new blog from Kevin Zehnder.  The purpose of this blog is to provide a general defense of the Christian worldview that will appeal to a wide audience.  As a college student, Kevin is in tune with the thoughts and trends on college campuses, and will be able to provide an excellent perspective on the challenges related to sharing the message of Jesus Christ to a new generation of hearers.

Latest Post (May 2, 2011): Vision enhancement Lasik can't offer

Our goal is simple. We desire to teach believers the skill to clearly talk about their Christian Faith. In doing so, we hope and pray we can energize fellow believers into entering into effective discourse about the Christian Worldview to those who are unbelieving.

Our site’s purpose is to be a portal for current Christian Thought (apologetics, theology, and Worldview analysis) as well as being a future home for our Tactical Faith group within Montgomery, Al (events promotion and registration).

Lastest Post (April 15, 2011): God's Morality

The God Gamble is hosted by three ordinary guys who have enough time on their hands to sit around and chat about some of the biggest questions relating to Christianity and God.  None are trained in theology, they aren't ministers and have no agenda other than to help you understand that faith in God is not nearly the gamble most perceive it to be.  You will discover "faith" is something required in much greater measure when understanding of any subject is limited and, with time, can evolve into logical understanding once adequate information has been made available and contemplated.

There is no topic too sacred or question too taboo to be addressed on the program and the guys want to talk about what you want to hear.

Latest Post (May 2, 2011): That Free-Will Show

Please welcome these new members to the CAA Team!

Blogs of the Week: Week of 4/24 - 4/30

The list of blogs put out by the CAA Team has gone to a weekly update rather than a daily one.  The goal of doing this is to continue providing a single place for everyone to see the new blog entries put out by the CAA Team, but to do this in a way that provides a weekly view that's easier to keep track of.

Going forward, we will be providing our updates for the week's blogs every Sunday.  These updates will be inclusive of the previous week.  Below is our first installment of this new format.  Everyone's feedback on it is quite welcome!

NOTE: Our team members do not always post on topics specifically related to Christianity, Theology or Apologetics.  As such, some of their posts may not be listed below unless they contain content relevant to these topics.

Newest CAA Blogs for the Week of 4/24 - 4/30

This week, we have one new blog joining the CAA Team.  This blog is called the Apologetics Review and it's a wide-ranging blog about all types of apologetics topics.  Below is information on this blog to acquaint yourself with it:

http://www.apologeticsreview.com/

Here we review various Christian apologetics resources such as debates, books, interviews and articles that we find important to the discussion. We also seek to publicize quality apologetic resources such as websites, debates, books, etc. If you come across any resources that you believe are especially meaningful, please let us know so that we may share them with others. We are especially interested in first-hand audio or video of events that might not otherwise have been recorded.

Everyone please check out the information contained in this blog and consider adding it to the list of blogs that you follow!
